The Surgery
In order for fat grafting buttocks augmentation to work, the patient must have enough existing body fat in other parts of the body such as the abdomen, flanks, hips, back, thighs, or arms. The doctor will gently remove the necessary amount of fat from one or more of these areas utilizing a thin cannula and liposuction. The fat particles are then purified and prepared for reinsertion into the buttocks.
The injection process is performed through two very small incisions and the fat distributed in an internal web pattern. Because some absorption is to be expected, occasionally more fat is injected than necessary so that the final result is the desired outcome.
What to Expect
The usual operative time is approximately one and a half hours. Relative rest is recommended for several days, and the patient can expect to return to normal activities after two weeks.
The Risks
All surgical procedures carry risks. Fat graft buttocks augmentation includes these risks, but complications specific to this procedure are rare. The risks include bleeding, infection, and asymmetry.
