Ultrasonic Liposuction

How Can I Benefit From Ultrasonic Liposuction?
Ultrasonic Liposuction can greatly benefit patients that are not the perfect candidate for traditional liposuction. Ultrasonic Liposuction uses sounds waves to first break up and liquefy fat, which is then removed via using suction. Because the fat is liquefied before removal there is far less blood loss than with traditional liposuction, and also can be effective in areas that tend to be more fibrous.

These differences make sonic liposuction very effective at removing large quantities of fat and also in areas that are more difficult, such as the removal of male breast tissue. Some studies have also shown that Ultrasonic Liposuction may also be less painful and have better recovery times.

Am I A Good Candidate for Ultrasonic Liposuction?
Although Ultrasonic Liposuction can be used in almost any situation where traditional liposuction can be applied, there are areas where it excels, such as:

  • High Volume Liposuction - Removing large amounts of fat which may not be possible with traditional liposuction due to concerns of excess bleeding
  • Localized Fatty Areas - This technique is especially helpful fibrous areas, such as the face, neck, abdomen, back, buttocks, male breasts, and calves.

Ultrasonic Liposuction may not always be the procedure of choice, but out experienced surgeons will be able to help you make the correct choice for your individual needs.

The Ultrasonic Liposuction Procedure
The ultrasonic liposuction procedure is very similar to a traditional liposuction procedure, with one major exception. A sound generator is connected to the cannula, which then generates ultrasonic waves through the tip of the cannula. These waves cause fat cells to explode and liquefy, and the liquefied fat is then easily suctioned from the body.

Depending on the individual needs of each person, a more traditional liposuction may be preformed directly after the ultrasound procedure in order to better shape the body. After the procedure, you will be fitted with elastic bandages or compression garments while your skin shrinks to fit your new body. The time that is required for this to take place is often shorter with ultrasonic liposuction, as the skin tightens to some degree during the procedure.
