Vampire Facelift® in Plano, TX
The Vampire Facelift® may sound like a scary name, but for some people, nothing is scarier than looking in the mirror and seeing a face they hardly recognize anymore, full of lines, wrinkles and creases. The Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center of Texas is here to help residents look their best in Plano, Frisco, and the greater Dallas metro area.
What is a Vampire Facelift®?
Unlike a traditional ‘facelift’, a Vampire Facelift® is non-surgical, and uses dermal fillers for filling in lines and wrinkles to restore lost volume and help reshape any lost facial contours. Then it adds the benefits of PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy. It was named Vampire Facelift® because of the small amount of your own blood it uses as part of the procedure.
Certification is required to do this facelift, and should not be administered by anyone who is not certified to perform the procedure. At The Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center of Texas, we’re pleased to have Vicki McQueen, RN Injector, who is “Vampire Certified” to perform this style of facelift.
How is a Vampire Facelift® Performed?
The Vampire Facelift® procedure is done in our office and lasts approximately an hour. Typically, the procedure begins by using a hyaluronic acid based dermal filler to fill in areas of lost volume, sculpting the face into a natural, younger-looking shape.
Then, a small amount of blood is drawn and put into a centrifuge to isolate the platelets. This takes about 10 minutes to do. We use Harvest System at The Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center of Texas. The Harvest System is known for concentrating down the blood to receive the most platelet-rich plasma possible.
The platelets are then activated to release numerous growth factors, normally used to repair injured or damaged tissue. The growth factors will trigger the production of collagen and stimulate new blood flow and must be present in your face in order for new skin to be rejuvenated.
A topical anesthetic is applied, and using a tiny microneedle, the growth factors from your blood are injected into your facial skin. They will stimulate stem cells in your skin to begin generating new skin cells, eventually resulting in a fresh, new layer of skin.
This procedure is most commonly used on the face, but can also be applied to the hands for a more youthful appearance.
Is a Vampire Facelift® Right for Me?
Because the Vampire Facelift® uses your own plasma, you don’t run the risk of any rejection or allergic reaction. So if you’re a healthy adult (the majority of our clients are in their mid-30s and up), and want to rejuvenate your skin to restore a healthy, youthful glow to your face without surgery, you’re likely a good candidate for a Vampire Facelift®.
During your initial consultation, we’ll discuss all your options with you and help you determine if a Vampire Facelift® is the best choice for you. Then, based on your medical history and unique aesthetic goals, we’ll work together to develop the best treatment plan to achieve the results you desire.
What is Recovery Like After a Vampire Facelift®?
Recovery following a Vampire Facelift® is relatively brief, about four hours of downtime, during which time we recommend no exercise and no lying down flat.
You’ll be given post-treatment instructions specific to your Vampire Facelift® and your unique situation. It’s important to follow the recommendations to ensure the quickest, most successful recovery possible.
