What is a Vampire Facelift?

The Vampire Facelift® is a technique developed to assist in returning volume back into the face. This technique includes using a combination of a hyaluronic acid filler (such as Juvederm products) and platelet-rich plasma (PRP).Vampire Facelift, Vampire, Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Center of Texas, Dr. Wilcox, Dr. Morrissey, Plano, TX

The Vampire Facelift® is not a surgical facelift. The treatment is performed in the office by a “Vampire Facelift” Certified injector. The procedure is a treatment using the patient’s own natural healing and growth factors that are extracted from your own blood. The product that is extracted and centrifuged are combined with a hyaluronic acid dermal filler. The procedure involves injections into strategic areas of the face with very little to no pain. The end result is a more youthful appearance with the reduction of wrinkles, re-volumizing the face and improving the quality of the appearance an quality of the skin.

The key ingredient of the Vampire Facelift® is platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which is extracted from the patient’s own blood. Platelet-rich plasma starts with a blood draw, just like any normal blood test.

What is the technique used to collect the PRP?

Here at Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Center of Texas, We use the “HARVEST® PLATELET CONCENTRATE SYSTEM” (The Highest Platelet Concentration When Compared to 12 Other Systems). The Harvest® SmartPrep® Multicellular Processing System delivers the highest concentration and yield of platelets

The platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is separated by centrifuge (spinning the blood). Platelet-rich plasma appears as a clear yellow serum after it is separated.

Calcium chloride is added to the PRP. Adding this ingredient makes the PRP thicker. Therefore, is longer lasting platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Platelet-rich plasma stimulates the production of collagen as well as regenerating tissue. PRP is often used in the medical field for wound healing properties.

Who is a candidate for The Vampire Facelift?

The Vampire Facelift® is not for everyone. People with more advanced signs of aging may benefit more from surgical treatment and/or Botox applications.

People with less visible signs of aging may benefit from using less extensive non-surgical procedures like hyaluronic acid fillers and platelet-rich plasma alone. A personal consultation with an accredited provider like Oculoplastic surgeon Dr. Amiya Prasad is the best way to determine if The Vampire Facelift® is right for you.
