WHAT IS PDO THREAD LIFT?
The PDO (Polydioxanone) thread lift is a non-invasive treatment to lift and tighten sagging skin. The threads are introduced into the deeper layers of the skin by using a tunneling device. Once the PDO threads are introduced, they offer patients 3 amazing effects of the skin:
- 1. Skin tightening. By contracting fat tissue.
- 2. Collagen stimulation. Which promotes cellular renewal and improves skin texture, fine lines and elasticity.
- 3. Instant skin lifting. PDO instant result.
The contoured facial lift will remain for about 12-15 months, due to the effects of collagen stimulation. PDO threads are absorbable and will disappear approximately six months following the procedure. Your skin cells will be stimulated to produce new collagen and new blood vessels, which improves the skin microcirculation. At the same time, the PDO threads cause the fat tissue to contract. It is this process that can provide patients with the skin tightening effect.
ARE THERE DIFFERENT TYPES OF PDO THREADS?
There are several types of PDO threads available on the market today and can be somewhat confusing for patients and even some doctors (It is always recommended to do your research prior to having ANY procedure performed). However, In general, PDO threads can be divided into two categories. Smooth threads and Barbed threads.
- Smooth threads are used to stimulate collagen.
- Barbed threads are used to lift and reposition the skin.
PDO threads also come in different varieties of thickness and length. These differences can affect their quality, tensile strength, effectiveness, and of course, the price of your treatment. MEDiTHREAD provides the strongest threads on the market.
WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED WITH PDO THREAD LIFT?
The PDO thread lift is an extremely versatile procedure. Due to its versatility, practically all areas of the body can be treated, including the following:
- Nasolabial folds (smile lines)
- Crow’s feet
- Glabella (the 11’s between the eyes)
- Smokers line
- Arch of the eyebrows
- Facial profile
- Periocular area (around the eyes)
- Arm Breast
- Hip Hands
- Neck and Chest
- Inner thighs
IS THIS RIGHT FOR ME?
The PDO thread lift procedure is often a customized treatment plan to address and treat the specific areas requested by the patient. PDO threads can be used for lifting, skin rejuvenation (improving skin texture and wrinkles) and volumizing or re-volumizing. Different threads can be used for different purposes, giving patient’s multiple options with endless possibilities.
Approximately 6 months following the treatment, the threads will be dissolved, however the results will continue over time. Depending on the threads used for your treatment, the practitioner may recommend repeating the procedure 6-9 months following the first procedure. This will allow for a longer-lasting result.
AM I SUITABLE FOR A PDO THREAD LIFT?
The PDO Thread Lift is an effective treatment that is suitable for anyone looking to improve the appearance of sagging skin. This treatment is suitable for someone who is willing to undergo some injections, and who want to attain an immediate lift and a facial contour without undergoing an invasive surgical facelift. It is best suited for men and women who are unwilling to tolerate the long downtime of a facelift surgery but want to look refresh and rejuvenated.
HOW IS THE PROCEDURE PERFORMED?
PDO threads are inserted into the skin by using sterile needles or cannulas. This often depends on the provider’s preference.
Once inserted, the barbed threads anchor to the underlying skin. This is the portion of the procedure when the provider contours the face.
Depending on the number of areas that can be treated and the size of the area, the procedure may take 15-30 minutes to contour.
There may be some slight discomfort during the procedure, but due to the improved techniques and MEDiTHREAD’s innovative needles, patients are experiencing less pain.
WHAT TO AVOID BEFORE AND AFTER A PDO THREADS LIFT PROCEDURE?
Like other treatments involving injections, we recommend that you avoid alcohol, supplements such as Vitamin E, Omega Fish oils for a minimum of 3 days prior to your treatment. Two weeks following the PDO Thread Lift procedure, we also discourage patients from undergoing any dental treatments or anything that would require you to open your mouth excessively. It is strongly advised to sleep on your back and slightly elevate your head to help minimize swelling. Included with your treatment, we offer supplements that will also help minimize the swelling and bruising. You will want to avoid putting pressure on the face that might cause misalignment of the threads.
COMBINATION TREATMENTS WITH PDO THREAD LIFT.
A PDO thread lift can be performed alone, or combined with other treatments, such as anti-aging dermal filler injections, Botox etc…
IS PDO THREAD LIFT SAFE?
Expect some mild bruising, swelling, and soreness for approximately 2 to 6 days following the procedure. You may also feel a mild sensation of tightness for up to 2 weeks. Temporary mild dimpling of the skin can also occur, but in most cases it resolves in a few days. Although side effects such as an infection are extremely rare, removing the threads may be required. The facial anatomy is very complex and anatomical knowledge is required to perform a PDO thread lift. It is advised to have an experienced provider perform your treatment as this will help minimize any chances of a serious side effect such as infection.
