Information Regarding HRT?

Hormone replacement therapy (A.K.A. HRT) is an effective way to control some of the symptoms associated with menopause or andropause. The benefits of HRT can far outweigh any of the risks that may be associated with HRT. If side effects are present from the use of HRT, they are usually mild if noticeable at all.

Women: Hormone replacement therapy may reduce the symptoms caused by postmenopausal, perimenopausal, and surgically menopausal women. The goal is to minimize the discomfort that can occur with diminished circulating estrogens and progesterone that can happen due to menopause. HRT combines doses of estrogen, progesterone, progestin, and testosterone. Having a combination of estrogen with progesterone can lower the risk for cancer of the lining of the uterus.

Men: Hormone Replacement Therapy can help older men that are deficient in the hormone and may reduce their risks of heart disease, diabetes according to new research presented by The Endocrine Society. The goal of HRT is to keep the testosterone levels within normal range. Low levels of testosterone are common with the ageing process.  Low levels of testosterone, can be associated with the metabolic syndrome, including the risk factors such as abnormal cholesterol, high blood pressure which can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes as well as overall health. It has been found that HRT may reduce the metabolic syndrome risk factors. This was found to be similar in all the age ranges.
