Botox, Dermal Fillers and Skincare Home Regimen Are Our Top 3 Recommendation
Botox® Treatment –
Botox® Cosmetic is a quick and minimally invasive procedure consisting of a few tiny injections.
Botox is the top “non-surgical” procedure for minimizing the signs of aging. Botox is also our most requested procedure for preventative ageing.
The procedure itself takes approximately 10 – 20 minutes total time. Patients can come is for their treatment during their lunch hour and return back to work without anyone recognizing you just received a treatment. There is no downtime afterward. There may be some slight bruising that occurs, however, bruising and swelling is very rare.
Botox can usually be noticed within 3- 5 days, but can take up to 2 weeks before seeing the full correction.
Dermal Fillers –
Dermal Fillers are a jelly-like substance that can be injected beneath the skin.
As we age our facial tissues begin to recess, fine lines become more noticeable around the nose and mouth, while our cheeks appear hollower over time. Dermal Fillers can help smooth out fine lines as well as replace facial volume. Dermal Fillers are also often requested by patients who desire fuller lips and smoothing out fine line around the lips. Once Dermal Fillers have been injected, patient will notice the difference in their appearance from anywhere to 9 months, up to 24 months. The longevity of a Dermal Filler can vary. This often depends on the type of product, the amount of product and the individuals’ metabolism.
There are several Dermal Fillers available out on the market today to address almost any concern a patient might have. The different fillers may consist of either a softer, thinner substance or a thicker and more moldable substance. The softer fillers are commonly used for fine lines to minimize any lumpy or bumpy appearance beneath the skin. The thicker products are commonly used in the areas that require more facial volumizing. Some fillers can even be used in the hands to minimize the fine lines of an aging hand.
The procedure can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour and a half. This is dependent on the amount of filler that is being injected. In most cases these procedures have little to no downtime. It is not uncommon to have some slight swelling and bruising after the injections. However, applying a tinted sunscreen or makeup will virtually make the procedure sites un-noticeable.
Skincare Home Regimen –
Skincare is probably the most important part of the anti-aging process as well as looking your best. There are important products that we feel EVERY patient should be using at home with every regimen.
Retin-A:
Our first recommendation is the most important and that is, using a true Retin-A product. We recommend that this product be applied to the surface of the skin a minimum of 3 times weekly. However, applying Retin-A on the skins surface nightly will do wonders for the appearance of your skin.
The purpose of using Retin-A is to exfoliate the dull skin at the surface that is created with daily environmental life. Once the dull skin has exfoliated, the skin beneath appears fresh, smooth and radiant.
Retin-A can be irritating to the skin and often times will cause redness and flaking. These are the reactions that we look for. These reactions are the indications that the Retin-A is working and doing its job. It is important to avoid sunlight and/or use an efficient facial sunblock. Retin-A is working. Patients that continue to use this product once the irritation is gone, can often apply the product to the skin surface nightly with less irritation, giving the patient a continuous fresh and glowing appearance.
Skin Lightener/ Hydroquinone (Bleach):
Skin Lighteners, Skin Brighteners and Hydroquinone products are used to lighten up darkness on the face, hands and chest such as sun damage, hormonal changes and even freckles.
Hydroquinone is literally a bleaching compound used for the skin and can only be sold by either a prescription to be filled at a pharmacy or it can sold by physicians only. Skin Lightener can be sold with or without Hydroquinone (bleach). Hydroquinone is most commonly compounded in a percentage. The average percentage recommended is 4%. However, if a patient wants to address severe discoloration, the percentage can go up 8 or 10%. Skin Lightener products are often used in conjunction with Retin-A due to the sloughing caused by Retin-A will also aid in sloughing off the dark spots.
It is recommended that Hydroquinone be used in 3 month increments. This is why some skin lighteners will not contain the Hydroquinone but will simply keep the discolorations suppressed.
Growth Factors:
Innovation and research are the foundation of Growth Factor products.
By using a Growth Factor product as part of your daily skin regimen, you will notice the improvement in your skin from the inside. The nutrients and ingredients formulated work with your skin’s natural processes to give it a radiant and youthful appearance.
Growth Factors is the perfect product to intergrade with the Retin-A and Skin Lightener products. When using a Growth Factor, this will generate skin cell turn over. This process will aid in expediting the results of the Retin-A and the Skin Lightener.
Using any of our Top 3 Recommendations of Botox, Dermal Fillers and Skincare Home Regimen will have you looking great and give you more confidence in yourself for this Holiday Season.
